An accredited, non-profit, degree granting school or university which is organized and operated exclusively for the purpose of teaching its enrolled students and is not affiliated with any private or public corporation or business entity. An accredited institution is:
Full- and part-time faculty and staff of Educational Institutions (defined above.)
Full- and part-time enrolled students of a Higher Educational Institution may purchase individual subscriptions.
Note regarding students of K-12 Institutions: Red Hat honors and respects the privacy of all individuals, and is particularly sensitive to the privacy protection of children under the age of 18. To ensure protection these individuals, Red Hat will not enter into contractual agreements, such as those for the Enterprise Linux academic editions, with minors under the age of 18, nor students of K-12 institutions. Students or minors may have their Parents or Legal Guardians purchase on their behalf.
Red Hat is committed to providing Educational resources worldwide. The Program defined in this document includes qualification criteria based on U.S. specifications. International qualification will be based on similar criteria, however, regional requirements will be incorporated when evaluating qualification for the individual programs. Any entity chartered by a qualified educational institution to purchase and deploy a computing system on the institutions behalf, provided the institution retains ownership of the deployed systems and Red Hat Enterprise Linux subscriptions throughout and following the deployment of the system, are qualified to purchase under this program. Non-Academic entities which provide services, such as outsourcing providers, to qualified educational institutions but do not transfer ownership of both the systems and the Enterprise Linux subscriptions are not qualified to purchase under this program.
Hospitals, Healthcare Systems and Research Laboratories (including independent Research Laboratories, Research Laboratories funded from outside any affiliated University or Research Laboratories funded and/or affiliated with the Department of Defense or the Department of Energy) are NOT eligible for Red Hat's educational programs unless they are wholly owned and operated by a qualified Educational Institution as defined above.
